This week Friday 10-4-2026 to Thursday 16-4-2026.
What’s On in the Hills (Fri 10 – Thu 16 April)
Classic Harmony Hits – The Sherrahs (Friday 10 April)
The Sherrahs bring an evening of classic harmony hits to historic Lobethal Centennial Hall, with songs from the 60s through to the 90s in a warm, intimate setting. Doors open from around 6:30 pm, with the show running 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, making it a lovely way to ease into the weekend with live music and strong vocal harmonies in one of the Hills’ heritage venues (tickets around $30).
Location: Lobethal Centennial Hall, Main Street, Lobethal.
Oakbank Market (Saturday 11 April)
Oakbank Market runs 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Oakbank Soldiers Memorial Hall, with stalls inside and out featuring candles, books, plants, jewellery, clothing, pet treats, jams and more from local makers. There’s also live music, food and coffee, raffles and face painting, so it’s an easy Saturday morning outing and a nice way to support the hall and local stallholders.
Location: Oakbank Soldiers Memorial Hall, 210 Onkaparinga Valley Road, Oakbank.
Vintage Sessions at The Lane Vineyard (Sunday 12 April)
The Lane’s Vintage Sessions run from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm on select Sundays, with wines by the glass or bottle, seasonal dishes from the kitchen and live acoustic sets on The Terrace overlooking the vines. It’s a relaxed, drop‑in style afternoon: gather a few friends, settle in with a platter or a couple of shared plates and enjoy local musicians as the harvest season plays out around you.
Location: The Lane Vineyard, 5 Ravenswood Lane, Hahndorf.
School Holiday Activities Week (Mon 13 – Thu 16 April)
Across the week there are multiple free or low‑cost school holiday activities around the Hills, including Mario Kart Parties at Norton Summit (Mon 13 April, 11:00 am–2:00 pm) and Gumeracha (Tue 14 April, 11:00 am–2:00 pm), plus creative sessions like Upcycled Jar Lanterns and a Test and Tinker Lab at Stirling Library. There’s also a Youth Week Future Council movie screening in Mount Barker, making this a handy mix of active, hands‑on and social options to keep kids and teens busy close to home.
Locations: Various – Norton Summit, Gumeracha, Stirling and Mount Barker.
Winery Restaurant Recommendation – The Lane Vineyard Restaurant, Hahndorf
Perched above the vines just outside Hahndorf, The Lane Vineyard Restaurant offers one of the region’s most polished winery dining experiences, with floor‑to‑ceiling views and a sleek, contemporary dining room looking over the estate. The kitchen focuses on modern Australian menus built around South Australian produce, offered as multi‑course Provenance or Demi‑Provenance experiences that pair beautifully with their cool‑climate single‑vineyard wines.
It’s a strong choice for a special long lunch, anniversary or visiting friends, with service that’s attentive without being stuffy and enough time built into each sitting (around 2.5–3 hours) to really settle in and enjoy the view. Bookings are essential, especially on weekends and during holiday periods.
Location: The Lane Vineyard Restaurant, 5 Ravenswood Lane, Hahndorf.
Home & Reno Corner – Autumn Heating & Energy
Smart Thermostat Settings for Autumn
As Adelaide starts to cool down after Easter, it’s tempting to nudge the heater higher, but each extra degree can add around 5–10% to your heating costs. Keeping your thermostat in the 18–20°C range and only heating the rooms you actually use can make a noticeable difference to both comfort and bills.
A simple routine to try this week:
Close doors to unused rooms so you’re not heating the whole house.
Set your main heater to 19°C and see if that feels comfortable once draughts are blocked and curtains are closed at night.
Use timers so the heating comes on just before you get up and switches off before bed, instead of running constantly.
